Event Center Staff Position - Part Time/Full Time

Job Overview
• Work directly with the Event Center Manager.
• Encourage and work cooperatively, and communicate effectively with volunteers, staff, promoters, and outside service groups.

Essential Functions
• Assist with the on-site management of facilities for use of events.
• Maintain and monitor buildings and event facilities for safety, cleanliness and accommodation of event needs.
• Manage event move-in and operations, and ability to adapt and react to “last minute” requests of show organizers.
• Set up and break down incoming/outgoing events in multiple different buildings to include tale, chairs, pipe and drape, staging etc.
• Clean buildings between events, maintain cleanliness during events and building clean up at conclusion of event.

Abilities
• Ability to work easily and effectively with a wide range of people
• Ability to work both independently and in collaborative environments
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to learn quickly and be self-motivated
• Flexible and adaptable to change
• Ability to work long hours, evening and weekends is a must

Livestock & Equine Complex Specialist - Full Time

Job Overview
• Work directly with Livestock & Equine Complex Manager.
• Encourage and work cooperatively, and communicate effectively with volunteers, staff, representatives of specific interest groups, and outside service groups.
• Support the mission of the organization and help maintain the core values of the organization: excellence, integrity, and preservation of agriculture.

Essential Functions
• Assist with the on-site management of facilities use for fair and non-fair events.
• Maintain and monitor buildings and event facilities for safety, cleanliness and accommodation of event needs.
• Manage event move-in and operations and ability to adapt and react to “last minute” requests of show organizers.
• Help coordinate teamwork on jobs requiring joint team cooperation and collaboration
• Effectively communicate with staff, interns, show promoters and committee volunteers
• Identify potential issues and provide solutions
• Responsible for overseeing/coordinating the following:
o Order and track required supplies
o Schedule and accommodate the meeting needs of promoters
o Manage event set ups and tear downs by using proactive planning. This includes: clean up, setting pens, cleaning stalls, etc.
o Maintaining restrooms and trash (especially during events).
o Facilitate show and facility needs throughout the 12 days of the Fair, including change overs

Ideal candidate must possess an extensive knowledge of the livestock & equine industries. Experience in stock show, equine events and trade shows and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications are also ideal.

Competitive Exhibits Manager & Volunteer Program Manager

Job Overview

  • Work directly with the CEO and other department Managers
  • Encourage and work cooperatively, and communicate effectively with volunteers, staff, and representatives of specific interest groups, and outside service groups.
  • Will be responsible for managing and growing the Competitive Exhibits program at the Erie County Fair, including Creative Arts, Ag-Grange, Environment & Sportsmen Building, Historical Building and Woodcarving exhibits, Home Brew and Wine Competition, and any other competition that is created.
  • Will be responsible for managing and working with the Friends of the Fair volunteer as the program manager. Responsible for the administrative aspects and the connection between the volunteer group and ECAS.

Competitive Exhibits Manager Essential Functions

  • Coordinate the complete schedule of events including activities and demonstrations.
  • Plan and develop the entry information, detailing all categories and divisions
  • Ensure proper input of categories, divisions and classes through the ShoWorks program.
  • Hire, manage and coordinate building superintendents and staff.
  • Oversee exhibit intake, display and return, including daily operations of fair-time staff.
  • Manage exhibitor relations, field questions, issues, complaints, etc.
  • Coordinate the judging and processing of premium checks.

Volunteer Program Manager Essential Functions

  • Maintain volunteer database.
  • Grow volunteer base through outreach to individuals, community-based organizations, groups, colleges/universities, and corporations as needed.
  • Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinators to assess needs.
  • Engage with existing volunteers and provide feedback and additional guidance as needed.
  • Maintain ongoing communications with volunteers.
  • Serve as liaison between ECAS and coordinators/volunteers.
  • Plan and execute volunteer appreciation and training activities.
  • Schedule volunteers for year-round and fair activities.
